WHAT INSPIRED US

In light of COVID-19, children are spending more time at home and some may lack meaningful after-school activities. Commercially available science kits and demonstrations are often available online for parents to engage their children. However, not all have the resources nor guidance for such activities at home, especially children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

We strongly believe that the joy of learning science should be accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic background, and thus the birth of project sci@home.

INSPIRATION
MODEL

USING A SIMPLE YET EFFECTIVE MODEL, SCI@HOME HOPES TO MAKE LEARNING FUN AND ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

IN 3 SIMPLE STEPS:

Commercial portable kits are often too expensive. Not everyone can afford such a learning tool for their children. Our kits keep costs low by revolving our activities around simple household items.

Thus, we design portable science kits for young underprivileged children (aged 7 - 10) from lower-income households.

It also comes along with activity booklets with instruction and guiding questions to facilitate self-directed learning.

We also host online workshops with our young participants to bring them through interactive discussions and the science activities.

For visual and audio learners, demonstration videos are also uploaded to guide them through these activities.
